Tim McGarry has stripped down to his underwear for charity.

One's a toned, talented superstar — the other’s David Beckham.

In a pose sure to have Ma reaching for her rolling-pin, Give My Head Peace’s Tim McGarry has stripped down to his underwear for charity.

While Beckham famously displayed his charms for Armani, McGarry is almost bearing all for Amnesty International.

It’s a far cry from the tweeds and woolly jumpers normally worn by Da, but comic McGarry was happy to step in to help promote a satellite broadcast of the Secret Policeman’s Ball.

The Belfast man will be at the Errigal Inn on Saturday night to add a touch of live comedy to the big screen broadcast of the Ball, coming from the Royal Albert Hall.

McGarry, a long-time Amnesty supporter, said: “Please come to the Amnesty gig, top comedy from London and live comedy from me and if you’re very lucky, I’ll keep my clothes on.

“Last week we freed Burmese dissident U Win Tin because of a couple of Amnesty gigs in the Whitla Hall. If Saturday night goes well I reckon Guantanamo Bay will be closed by Monday.”

Belfast will play host to the only cinecast in Ireland, with over 100 venues from as far afield as Candan Canada and Australia cinecasting a simultaneous live screening of the show.

Meanwhile Amnesty has revealed that John Cleese, one of the original comic legends involved in the Secret Policeman’s Ball, will join Graham Norton, Mitchell and Webb, Russell Howard, Frank Skinner, Alan Carr and Shappi Khorsandi as well as many others.

Patrick Corrigan, Northern Ireland Programme Director of Amnesty International said: “When you laugh at a joke along with lots of other people you realise that they feel the same way you do. When the jokes or the music have a political message it can help people realise that many others share their beliefs. This gives people the confidence to take action and that is exactly what we want.”

I'll tell you what 'Da' is in some shape for his age!! I would!
