Reynolds to star as gambling addict

Ryan Reynolds will be starring in gambling drama Mississippi Grind.

The Green Lantern star has signed on for the new project which currently has no release date, said Deadline.

Ryan is set to appear alongside The Dark Knight Rises actor Ben Mendelsohn in the film about a gambling addict who is in debt and teams up with a younger gambler in the hope of turning his luck around.

The pair set off on a road trip across the southern US in the hope of clearing debts and making some big wins.

Mississippi Grind comes from writer directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, who most recently created Half Nelson and It's Kind Of A Funny Story.

Jake Gyllenhaal was originally attached to the film in the part of the older gambler.

Ryan is set to appear in R.I.P.D. later this year, an action comedy with Jeff Bridges about a team of undead police offers working for the Rest In Peace Department.
