Richard Gere is reportedly in talks to check into The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
A sequel to the British comedy about a group of UK pensioners who move to a retirement hotel in India is set to begin shooting on location in India in January 2014.
Now Deadline has reported Fox Searchlight and director John Madden are courting Hollywood star Richard to join the cast.
Penelope Wilton and Dame Judie Dench recently confirmed they are reprising their roles in the sequel and Downton Abbey star Penelope said: "As far as I know everybody will be returning."
The film also starred Bill Nighy, Dame Maggie Smith, Celia Imrie, Ronald Pickup, and Dev Patel as the hotel manager.
Tom Wilkinson's character died in the first film which saw Maggie Smith's character Muriel take over the hotel.
No details are known about the plot.
The 2011 film was a surprise box office hit grossing 136 million dollars worldwide on a 10 million dollar budget.
