Ricky Gervais: Kermit is the boss!

Ricky Gervais will be singing and dancing in The Muppets sequel

Ricky Gervais has revealed that Kermit the Frog is the head honcho on The Muppets sequel.

The British funnyman is currently filming the new Muppets movie in which he plays the main non-Muppet, alongside Tina Fey, Ty Burrell and Ray Liotta, and is aware of who really is more important.

"I love the fact we have to say, 'lead human'. I know my place. I know Kermit's in charge," he joked.

It's a rare moment of democracy for the comedian, but that's because his number one priority is being fulfilled.

"I am going to thoroughly enjoy it. I can't believe my luck. It's going to be two months of fun for me," he said.

"I have already done a few days with costume and dance rehearsals. I've met the other cast, met the frog, the pig... There is nothing I would rather be doing or I wouldn't have done it. I hope people like it, but if they don't I've been paid."

Ricky, who stars in Channel 4 show Derek, teased that he may even bring some of his dance moves from his Office alter-ego David Brent.

"I've got some great dance moves from the David Brent music video. (I'll be) singing and dancing in the Muppets like you've never seen it before," he added.

:: Derek starts on Channel 4 on January 30.
