Ritchie keen on King Arthur film?

Guy Ritchie is reportedly interested in making a film about King Arthur.

The Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels filmmaker has tried several times to develop his version of the Arthurian legend with Warner Bros, and is still looking to bring it to fruition, reported Deadline.

Guy is interested in directing Joby Harold's "fantasy retelling" of the story, which is thought to span six films.

The British director and his partner Lionel Wigram previously developed a version of the King Arthur saga, based on a script by Trainspotting writer John Hodge. But their project lost steam when the studio seemed to prefer Arthur And Lancelot by David Dobkin instead, which initially saw Colin Farrell in talks to play Lancelot and Gary Oldman in discussions for Merlin.

A remake of Excalibur, which had X-Men's Bryan Singer attached, was also previously considered by Warner Bros, said Deadline.

Guy - who previously directed two Sherlock Holmes films starring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law - has been filming the big screen remake of The Man From UNCLE, featuring Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander and Hugh Grant.
