Roberts is rare red carpet sighting

Julia Roberts has admitted she is a rare sight on a red carpet these days, and that family life is often more appealing than movies.

The Notting Hill star - who has three children - told E! News that she finds premieres and events more fun now that she doesn't do many of them.

She said: "I do it so rarely now, so it's fun."

Talking about upcoming film August: Osage County, she continued: "If a job like this comes along, and it's, you know, can't be passed on, then I'll go do that because I still have my creative independent side and I have to break away from the nest, as my husband keeps reminding me. It's really difficult!"

The film is an adaptation of a Tracy Letts play about an estranged family coming together for a funeral and also stars Meryl Streep, Chris Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Abigail Breslin, Dermot Mulroney and Ewan McGregor.

August: Osage County is released in cinemas on January 17.
