Robin Williams to play Eisenhower

Robin Williams is reportedly set to join the list of actors playing former US Presidents

Robin Williams is set to play former US President Dwight Eisenhower in Precious director Lee Daniel's next movie, according to reports.

The star will play the 34th US president in The Butler, the true story of Eugene Allen, who worked in the White House over the course of three decades, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which is due to start shooting later this month in New Orleans, also stars Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard, Alan Rickman, Vanessa Redgrave and Jane Fonda.

Robin is the latest in a spate of actors to play American presidents on the big screen - Daniel Day-Lewis takes on the title role in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, while Bill Murray will play Franklin D Roosevelt in Hyde Park on Hudson.
