Rose Leslie has signed up to star opposite Vin Diesel in The Last Witch Hunter, which also has Breck Eisner on board as director.

The Crazies director will take charge of the film, which sees Vin Diesel as a semi-immortal witch hunter forced to team up with a female witch, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The pair will patrol the streets of modern-day New York to try to put a stop to a villainous witch queen, who wants to get her hands on an ancient relic that will unleash a plague on humanity.

Scottish actress Rose, who stars in Game Of Thrones and has also featured in Downton Abbey, will play a witch and love interest for Vin's character.

The script has been worked on by Dallas Buyers Club writer Melisa Wallack and production is expected to start in August in Pittsburgh.

Rose has recently finished filming indie drama Sticky Notes with Ray Liotta and Gina Rodriguez.
