Roth joins Martin Luther King film

Tim Roth is joining Martin Luther King Jr drama Selma.

The Grace Of Monaco star will play Alabama governor George Wallace in the film about the civil rights marches of 1965, reported Deadline.

Wallace was a supporter of racial segregation and his beliefs and "bullying tactics" helped to trigger the freedom march, where black Americans attempted to walk from Selma to Alabama's capital of Montgomery in order to gain voting rights, only to be beaten back by police.

Tim joins The Butler star David Oyelowo, who is playing King, Andre Holland, Carmen Ejogo and Tom Wilkinson, who will portray President Lyndon B Johnson.

Ava DuVernay will direct Selma, and Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey are among the producers.
