Roth to judge new talent at Cannes

Tim Roth will help pick the Un Certain Regard winner at Cannes

Tim Roth will lead the jury charged with picking out emerging talent at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The Reservoir Dogs star, currently appearing in US television series Lie To Me, will help pick the winner of the Un Certain Regard prize which is designed to recognise films with "an original aim and aesthetic".

The prize runs in parallel with the festival's main award - the prestigious Palme d'Or.

Londoner Tim made his name in television before going on to star in films including Pulp Fiction, Rob Roy and The Hit.

This year's festival will open with American director Wes Anderson's new film.

Moonrise Kingdom, which stars Tilda Swinton alongside Bruce Willis and Bill Murray, is set in New England in the summer of 1965.

It marks a return to the festival in the south of France for Swinton, who appeared last year supporting her critically acclaimed role in We Need To Talk About Kevin.

Among the stars who attended last year were Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

Last year's festival ended in controversy when organisers banned Danish director Lars Von Trier and declared him "persona non grata" after he told a press conference he was a Nazi and could understand Hitler.

Gemini:

You never do anything in moderation. Attend every fun party, accept every juicy offer and try all the delectable treats spread before you. Avoid unpleasant people and activities like the plague. This should be a time of enjoyment. Leave your list of chores at home. You can always attend to these jobs at another time. If you have a chance to show your creative work to a publisher, manager or agent, go ahead. This is also a great opportunity to go on job interviews, auditions and first dates.More
