Roth to play nurse in drama Chronic

Tim Roth is to star as a troubled nurse in new drama Chronic - the English-language debut from Mexican director Michel Franco.

The Oscar-nominated British actor will appear opposite Grimm star Bitsie Tulloch in the new film from the After Lucia director, Deadline reported.

Tim will play a depressed nurse practitioner who assists terminally ill patients and tries to reconnect with the family he abandoned.

Bitsie will play Lidia, whose father John will be played by Pulitzer-winning playwright Michael Cristofer.

Prisoners' David Dastmalchian - who was recently cast in Marvel's Ant-Man - is also in talks to join the film.

Tim is an admirer of Michel's work, as the Pulp Fiction star served as president of the Cannes jury that awarded the Mexican director the top prize in the Un Certain Regard sidebar for his teen bullying drama After Lucia in 2012.
