R-Patz's The Rover set for release

Robert Pattinson's film The Rover has picked up a distributor to put it on the road to release this year.

A24 has acquired the rights to the futuristic thriller starring R-Patz and Guy Pearce, said The Hollywood Reporter.

The Rover is set in Australia after economic collapse and follows Guy's character as he travels through the outback, teaming up with the Twilight star's character to track a gang of thieves.

It was written, directed and produced by David Michod, who also wrote and directed the 2010 film Animal Kingdom.

A24 are going to be releasing the film in the US, but in Australia and New Zealand it will go through the Village Roadshow. Sophia Coppola's The Bling Ring is an A24 distribution, as is the upcoming The Spectacular Now.

R-Patz is set to appear in the 2014 drama about Hollywood life Maps To The Stars, while Guy can be seen alongside Kristen Wiig and Hailee Steinfeld in Hateship, Loveship later this year.
