Paul Rudd says a lot of work has gone into the Anchorman sequel

Paul Rudd has said it will be impossible not to disappoint some fans with the long-awaited Anchorman sequel.

The comedy star, 43, is about to start work on Anchorman: The Legend Continues, which follows the 2004 movie, with Will Ferrell and Steve Carell.

Due for release in December, the film follows the San Diego news crew at the dawn of the 24-hour news cycle.

"There are many people who just won't [like it] regardless of what it is," the This Is 40 actor said in response to whether the film can live up to the hype.

"Hopefully it will be funny. I know a lot of work has gone into it and it's not something that's just been rifled off. I'm looking forward to it. I can't believe it's actually happening."
