Ruffalo emailed for Star Wars role

Mark Ruffalo has admitted he is so desperate to be in the new Star Wars films that he wrote an email asking for a part.

The Hulk star told Collider that he sent a message to his Brothers Bloom director Rian Johnson - who will write and direct Episode VIII - to ask if there was anything in it for him.

Asked if he wants to be in a Star Wars film, Mark said: "Desperately," and revealed he had "reached out to" Rian.

He went on: "My email to Rian after all these years was, 'Rian, congratulations on everything you've been doing. And by the way, if there's a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you'."

Mark, 46, revealed he is such a big fan he might consider even being in the background just so he can be on set.

"Possibly, depending on timing," said the Infinitely Polar Bear star. "I love hanging out with Rian so that's interesting to me but I would like a role."

Star Wars: Episode VII - directed by JJ Abrams - is due to be released in cinemas on December 18, 2015.
