Ryder's tears over Frankenweenie

Winona Ryder says Tim Burton's movies have 'heart'

Winona Ryder has admitted that she cried when she saw Frankenweenie for the first time.

The actress voices girl-next-door Elsa Van Helsing in Tim Burton's feature-length version of his 1984 short film, about a boy named Victor who loses his dog and uses the power of science to resurrect him.

Winona confessed she shed tears when she watched the finished movie at its Los Angeles premiere.

"It just encapsulates everything he is about. This movie is so personal to him, I mean, Victor is Tim," she said.

The star, who previously worked with Tim on Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, said that his films may be spooky and dark, but they also have "heart".

"For all the darkness that is associated with him, there's so much heart in all of his films," she explained.

"I think that's another reason why children really still love films like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. There's not a better feeling in the whole world than having a kid come up to you and say, 'Are you the girl from Beetlejuice?'"

:: Frankenweenie is in cinemas now.

Gemini:

This is a good time to establish a routine. Create a schedule that strikes a nice balance between your personal and professional lives. You're the type of person who needs plenty of intellectual stimulation outside of work. If you've been spending too much time at the office, reduce your hours. This may mean less money, but you can't put a price on happiness. You might even decide to take a job with unconventional hours so you can play sports or spend more time outdoors.More
