Zoe Saldana is in talks to star in Guardians Of The Galaxy, according to reports.
The Avatar actress is poised to tackle the role of vengeful skilled assassin Gamora in James Gunn's big-screen version of the Marvel comic, said The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.
Zoe, who has reprised her role as Uhura in JJ Abrams' sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, is no stranger to sci-fi and action, having starred in Star Trek and James Cameron's Avatar.
Chris Pratt has been cast as the male lead, Peter Quill ala Star-Lord, while David Bautista won the role of Drax the Destroyer over Jason Momoa.
Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler were in talks for supporting roles, thought to be motion-capture characters Rocket Raccoon (a talking raccoon) or Groot (a giant tree).
Production on Guardians Of The Galaxy is due to begin in London during the summer, for a release in 2014.
Zoe, who has wrapped on thriller Out Of The Furnace with Christian Bale, will also appear in thriller Blood Ties alongside Clive Owen, Mila Kunis and Marion Cotillard, and Robert Rodriguez's Machete follow-up, Machete Kills, with Jessica Alba, Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen.
She is also expected to return for James Cameron's Avatar sequel.
