Saldana won't change body for role

Zoe Saldana has revealed she would never consider going on an extreme diet to change her appearance for a role.

The Avatar star plays Gamora in the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy, which co-stars Chris Pratt, who lost over 60 pounds to play Star-Lord in the comic book action movie.

But Zoe told Digital Spy she would never consider gaining or losing a large amount of weight for an acting role.

She said: "I don't like to f*** with my body like that. I think it's marvellous when actors do, but I know I don't have it in me to not eat, or to over-eat. I would rather shoot myself in the foot.

"This is not invalidating what Chris has done, he had to go through the transformation and it was a spiritual thing as well for him, and he looks fantastic.

"I really admire actors like Christian Bale and Jared Leto who go up and down, but they're gifted, and once they're done with that movie they go back and look like who they are.

"I don't think that would happen to me. I love Shake Shack too much, as well!"

Christian Bale is said to have drastically cut down on food for four months to lose over 60 pounds for 2004 psychological thriller The Machinist, while Jared Leto lost a lot of weight to play a drug-addict, HIV positive transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club, which won him a best supporting Oscar earlier this year.

Guardians Of The Galaxy, directed by James Gunn, is released in the UK on July 31.
