Sam Worthington has revealed that Keira Knightley "hated" him - after he took method acting a little too far on the set of their film.
The Avatar star, 35, said he struggled to get into the role of a complacent husband, opposite Keira as his wife, in the recent movie Last Night.
He told Metro: "I thought if I treat her with complacency - like the character in the movie - that might help. So in the second week, I became complacent.
"Actually, I was a bit of a jerk. I didn't turn up to rehearsals. Why? I couldn't be bothered. And I picked fights with the director.
"In my head, I thought my character should be a bit of a jerk. Keira started to hate me. But to me that meant things were going well: We nailed our relationship right there."
Sam called his behaviour "stupid", saying: "I'm not very good at turning it on and off. It will take a long time for her to stop seeing me as arrogant."
The Australian actor currently stars as an Israeli Mossad agent opposite Dame Helen Mirren in The Debt.
