Rupert Sanders could be directing the Van Helsing reboot, according to early reports.
The British filmmaker, who made his directorial debut with Snow White And The Huntsman, is said to be "in early and casual conversations" about the upcoming vampire film, reported Twitchfilm.com.
Tom Cruise is already set to produce and star as the vampire hunter, previously played by Hugh Jackman in Stephen Sommers' 2004 movie.
Writer and producer Alex Kurtzman has said that the plot for the remake, which has also been written by Roberto Orci, would be more "grounded in reality".
Tom, who next stars in action adaptation Jack Reacher and Joseph Kosinski's sci-fi epic Oblivion, is shooting All You Need Is Kill and it is thought that Van Helsing would be his next movie.
Rupert has yet to be confirmed for the Snow White And The Huntsman sequel, following his affair with Kristen Stewart. The pair made public apologies for the tryst, with the married filmmaker saying: "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family."
