Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and her actor husband Matthew Broderick are expected to arrive in Co Donegal this weekend amid rumours that their 11-year marriage is on the rocks.
The glamourous couple — considered one of the strongest pairings in showbiz — regularly visit Kilcar in Donegal, where they own a holiday home.
But their marriage has been the subject of recent speculation after it was alleged that Broderick — star of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off — had an affair with a younger woman.
It is understood that they decided to escape to their Irish bolthole with their five-year-old son James Wilkie following intense media scrutiny.
It’s reported that they are currently holidaying at their home in the Hamptons in New York as they attempt to rebuild their relationship.
It will be a particularly poignant time for Broderick when he comes to Ireland this week. Exactly 21 years ago yesterday the Hollywood star was involved in a fatal accident in Fermanagh.
Broderick, who was with his then-girlfriend, actress Jennifer Grey at the time, drove his car into another vehicle near Enniskillen, killing Margaret Doherty (63) and her daughter Anna Gallagher (30).
He later pleaded guilty to careless driving and was fined £100.
The family spend much of their free time in Donegal, where they are known by locals around Kilcar.
Broderick, whose parents own a home close to the couple, will also be hoping for some quiet time as stories of his alleged affair continue to escalate.
The star has so far refused to deny the rumours and a spokesman for the actor said: “There will be no comment.”
According to reports the star had the alleged fling while his wife was filming scenes for the Sex And The City movie in LA.
Broderick is said to have met the red-haired woman in a bar in Manhattan last November and was even seen going in to the woman's apartment with wine and flowers.
Parker so far has remained tight-lipped about the allegations but is thought to have first heard about the affair last February.

Sarah announced that (their plans to come to Ireland) in June, way before the stories about infidelity. They aren't coming to Donegal to hide from the paps and repair their marriage - this is a long planned trip which they both had to clear schedules for. Let them enjoy their time here - they could have gone anywhere and they chose Ireland.

Donegal is a beautiful place for them to spend time to get away from the paparazzi and their busy life of New York City. Some of the scenery is to die for and it can be a relaxing place to be. And Donie Gaul i do not agree with your comment yes it may rain at times but the food is not bad and you make it sound horrible! Donegal can be a beautiful place to be. I know this as i own a small house in Kilcar. And Sjp myt not be the most beautiful woman in hollywood but she has raw talent which many celebs dnt! She has had an extreamly successful tv show (sex and the city) with the help of Kim Cattrall who carried that show.

The story is that he met this woman in a bar in Brooklyn.
However, people who live in Manhattan would not be caught dead in Brooklyn. And so, "Strike One" against this story being true.
About 10 or 15 years ago there was this story about this guy who was pretending to be Broderick in order to score with chicks, and who looked just like him and would claim to be him. Maybe this dude is still alive and well. I remember reading about it somewhere.

She has been looking more witchy as the years go by. It is time for him to trade up. He can easily get someone yunger and more beautiful than her. He can probably get a nice divorce settlemnt from her as well.

When my marriage was on the rocks we headed to Amsterdam. When I say we I mean me and about 12 mates. For some reason my marriage eneded quite suddenly when I got back 2 weeks later!! Women just don't understand us men!
