Scott making David and Goliath film

Ridley Scott is planning to make a film based on the story of David and Goliath.

The Prometheus director has already made one Biblical tale - Exodus: Gods And Kings, starring Christian Bale as Moses, which is due out at the end of the year.

Now Variety reports that he is looking to reteam with production partners Fox and Chernin Entertainment on a big screen version of the tale of the Old Testament's King David, who proved his faith by defeating giant Goliath in a fight, armed only with a sling and some stones, and went on to become king of Israel.

Up and coming writer Jonathan Stokes has apparently been hired to write the script for the untitled project, which is expected to focus on King David's reign after defeating Goliath.

Ridley would produce with his company Scott Free, but it is still not known if he will direct the movie.

He has several projects in the pipeline including The Martian, starring Matt Damon, and the Prometheus sequel.
