Producer Scott Rudin's next big page-to-screen hit could be the Jeff VanderMeer thriller Annihilation.
Scott is known for his adaptations of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, starring Rooney Mara, and No Country For Old Men.
Now Deadline is reporting that he has set his sights on Annihilation as his next project.
Annihilation is the first in what will be a trilogy of novels about a secret agency called Southern Reach.
In the first book, the agency are monitoring a mysterious sealed-off zone called Area X.
It has been classified by the government as an environmental disaster zone for 30 years but as it looks like a perfect landscape, Southern Reach have been sending in research expeditions.
Scott's studio partner for the project is Paramount, but it's early days yet as they still need to find a writer, director and cast.
