Segel reveals his weighty role
Jason Segel has revealed that filming on location in Louisiana for his latest movie had an unfortunate impact on his waistline.
Segel, who plays the title character in Jeff, Who Lives At Home, admitted he over-indulged during the three-month shoot.
"It was the best thing of all time," he said.
"We shot for three months there, but the movie takes place in one day. So in addition to this movie having the themes it has, it's also the slow story of a guy gaining 30 pounds over one day, which I'm really proud of, it's not easy."
The movie, which also stars Ed Helms and Susan Sarandon, sees Segel play a 30-year-old man still living in his mother's basement.
"The goal wasn't just to come in and have a joke-fest," he explained.
"It was to come in and really be honest, and that's why I wanted to do it.
