Serkis to develop Bone Season film

Andy Serkis is set to develop a movie version of the hit book The Bone Season.

The Hobbit actor's company Imaginarium Studios acquired the movie rights to the novel by 22-year-old British author Samantha Shannon and has sold them to Fox and Chernin Entertainment, reported Deadline.

At the same time, Andy's firm has signed a first-look producing deal with Fox.

The Bone Season follows a 19-year-old clairvoyant named Paige Mahoney, who roams the streets of London in 2059 as a criminal.

The supernatural sci-fi book is the first in a series of seven novels, suggesting the filmmakers could be looking at a potential franchise.

Andy, 49, will not star in or direct the film.
