Seyfried: Voice training was tough

Amanda Seyfried had to retrain her voice for her Les Mis role

Amanda Seyfried has joked her voice still doesn't feel ready after months of training to star in musical Les Miserables.

The 27-year-old actress took classical voice training as a teenage and starred in hit film musical Mamma Mia! in 2008. But she revealed after years of singing pop songs for pleasure, she felt she had untrained herself before taking on the part of Cosette in the new big screen adaptation of Les Mis.

Amanda said: "I'm still not ready! I started studying in August last year and it's just weird to retrain your voice and unlearn everything that you learned over the past eight years.

"For eight years I quit singing and I just sang for myself and it was hard - to train your voice to have that kind of stamina and to condition it to sound classical. It was tough after not doing it for so long."

But the Mean Girls star admitted it was worth it when she and all her co-stars were singing live on set.

She said: "We were all very exposed in this situation. But at the same time you can go so much further with the character. It's really moving to be able to sing your emotions as supposed to speak them."

Virgo:

It's difficult to deal with a highly competitive colleague. Every time you submit work, they try to find ways to outperform you. Although you have no interest in pitting your talent against theirs, this other person thinks very differently. Ignoring them won't be possible. A good way to disarm this pest is to invite them out for coffee. Describe what you've observed and ask for a truce. Irrational people are often thrown off balance when their behaviour is addressed in a direct manner.More
