Seymour Hoffman joins Child 44

Philip Seymour Hoffman has signed up to star in political murder mystery Child 44.

Moneyball actor Philip will appear in the tense thriller directed by Daniel Espinosa and produced by Ridley Scott, said Variety.

The film is adapted from the Tom Rob Smith best-selling novel of the same name and follows a disgraced member of the Soviet Union police during the Stalin era.

The ex-policeman is investigating a series of child murders that connect to high up members of a political party.

Child 44 is the first in a trilogy of thrillers.

Philip joins a star cast including Tom Hardy, Paddy Considine, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman, although the roles assigned to each actor haven't been released yet.

Child 44 is due to be released in cinemas in 2014.

Don't let a manipulator take advantage of you. Someone with a sob story will ask for money or favours. Be prepared to turn them away. Although you want to be gracious, it simply isn't wise to give assistance to people with bad motives. Other people have warned you about this trickster. Take their advice. There's often a good reason why a person has a bad reputation. If anyone dares accuse you of being selfish, stay strong. You have a right to use your hard earned money for your own benefit.More
