Shia LaBeouf takes on Villain role

Shia LaBeouf's new film is set in the Alaskan wilderness

Shia LaBeouf has been cast in upcoming psychological thriller Villain.

The Transformers star will play a man who ventures into the Alaskan wilderness with his brother so they can reconnect and confront their dark past, reported Deadline.

The actor playing the other brother is expected to be announced soon.

David Slade was originally tipped to be directing but had to drop out due to his busy schedule, and the reins have now been handed to Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the man behind horror thriller 28 Weeks Later.

Shia, 26, has several films coming up, including romantic comedy The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman and Lars Von Trier's drama Nymphomaniac.
