Slater joins River Sorrow cast

Christian Slater is to star in The River Sorrow

Christian Slater has joined the indie crime thriller The River Sorrow.

Portraying an FBI agent on the trail of a serial killer, he will be joined by Ray Liotta as a detective and Ving Rhames as the detective's friend and captain, reports Variety.com.

Shooting on the film, directed by Rich Cowan, will kick off next week in Washington.

Christian recently completed filming another crime thriller Guns, Girls And Gambling with Gary Oldman and Dane Cook, while Ray co-starred with Zac Efron in The Death And Life Of Charlie St Cloud.

Ving is reprising his role as Luther Stickell in the fourth Mission: Impossible instalment, which is to start shooting at the end of the year.
