Sly adds young blood to Expendables

Sylvester Stallone has signed up 24-year-old newcomer Glen Powell to the cast of The Expendables 3.

The latest film in the franchise about ageing mercenaries will star veteran actors Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford and Jackie Chan.

Now young blood Glen - who has done some TV acting in the US and had a non-credited role in The Dark Knight Rises - has been cast as a highly trained combat veteran who is also an expert hacker and drone pilot, The Hollywood Reporter revealed.

Sly, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke and younger Brit Jason Statham will all return for the next instalment.

The Rocky star - who wrote and directed the original Expendables movie - revealed on Twitter that Bruce Willis was not returning, hinting there had been a disagreement over money.

The Expendables 3, directed by Patrick Hughes, is due out in August 2014.
