Smith, Schreiber for Good Lord Bird

Jaden Smith is set to star in an adaptation of The Good Lord Bird

Jaden Smith and Liev Schreiber are set to star in an adaptation of James McBride's bestseller The Good Lord Bird.

The film will star Jaden, 15, as a young slave called Onion who teams up with Liev's radical abolitionist John Brown in 1856 Kansas and travels the country with his band of freedom fighters.

Onion is at first mistaken for a girl as he wears a dress, and the action takes them towards the bloody Harper's Ferry raid, which was one of the factors that sparked the American civil war.

Liev is also going to produce the film alongside author James and Brian Taylor. James and Brian have been working on another adaptation of one of his books, Song Yet Sung, which they made into a TV series for US channel FX called The Code and starring Kelsey Grammer.

Jaden recently featured opposite dad Will Smith in After Earth and starred in Karate Kid, and he is also signed up for the sequel to the martial arts movie.

Your Horoscopes by Russell Grant

Scorpio:

You should be justifiably proud of your progress. It isn't easy to break a bad habit, but you've managed to do so. A perverse side of your personality may tempt you to fall back on the old ways, just to give yourself another challenge. Ignore these impulses. Channel your energy in a positive direction instead. Learning to make clothes, furniture or jewellery will be a great use of your creative ability. You'll be especially successful if you use old, discarded materials in your work.More
