Smith set for Brilliance role?

Will Smith is tipped to star in upcoming sci-fi thriller Brilliance.

The After Earth star is in "early talks" for the part in the adaptation of Marcus Sakey's novel, according to The Wrap.

The story is set in a world where a group of people with special abilities are born and labelled "brilliants".

The role earmarked for Will, 45, is that of a federal agent. His own gift for hunting sees him tasked with catching one of the brilliants, who is planning to start a war.

The script was written by David Koepp and Julius Onah will direct.

The novel Brilliance was released last year and is the first of a planned trilogy, suggesting more movies could follow.
