Somerhalder takes Clarke's Anomaly

Ian Somerhalder and Luke Hemsworth have started filming on Noel Clarke's new film The Anomaly.

The Vampire Diaries star and Luke, the elder brother of Chris and Liam, have been working on the sci-fi action thriller in London, reported Screen Daily.

Director and producer Noel, who appeared in Star Trek Into Darkness, tweeted: "As suspected it will be a tough week. This was a tough day. Day 8. Anomaly. Lets do this people."

The film, which also stars Brian Cox and Alexis Knapp follows a traumatised ex-soldier who wakes up in the back of a van, alongside a kidnapped boy, to find that he only has only nine minutes and 37 seconds of consciousness to work out why and how he got there.

The shoot will also head to New York.

Former Bafta Rising Star winner Noel - who previously directed Adulthood and - is producing The Anomaly, written by Simon Lewis, with his Unstoppable Entertainment company.

Ian, who is rumoured to have split from co-star Nina Dobrev, has been enjoying a hiatus from his role as vampire Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries.

The Anomaly marks Luke's first lead big-screen role. He previously portrayed Nathan Tyson in Australian soap Neighbours, and is due to appear in World War I drama The 34th Battalion.
