Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone could be returning for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4, after Sony Pictures announced release dates for the upcoming films.
While the sequel has yet to hit screens, the third instalment is already scheduled for a release in June 2016, followed by the fourth film in May 2018.
The rebooted first film from Marc Webb, which stars Andrew as Peter Parker and his webbed superhero alter-ego and Emma as his love interest Gwen Stacy, made over 750 million US dollars at box offices worldwide, encouraging Sony to continue the franchise.
Sony Pictures chairman Jeff Blake said in a statement: "Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we're thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years."
The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is due to open in cinemas in May 2014, sees newcomers Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Jamie Foxx as supervillain Electro and Paul Giamatti as fellow rival Rhino.
Andrew has previously said he is aware of the responsibility of playing Spidey on the big screen.
"It is a responsibility to play that role, and I don't take it lightly. I think there's so much to explore with that mythology and within the tension between living a double life, struggling with being good, struggling with choosing good behaviour over bad behaviour, with the pressures of a city on your shoulders," he told E! News.
