Spider-Man spin-off films planned

Spider-Man spin-off films are planned

Spider-Man fans will be thrilled to hear that movie bosses are planning to develop a series of spin-offs.

The Amazing Spider-Man sequel -starring Andrew Garfield - is due out next year and there are further follow ups planned, and Sony have now confirmed that they will also be exploring other characters in the web-slinger's world, reported Deadline.

Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton said: "We do very much have the ambition about creating a bigger universe around Spider-Man. There are a number of scripts in the works."

There had already been rumours that spin-offs were in the pipeline after Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal dropped some hints during a presentation to investors.

"We are going to access Marvel's full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains," she said.

It has not been confirmed which characters might feature in the films.
