Spielberg's advice to Elle Fanning
Steven Spielberg advised Elle Fanning to lead a normal life, she has revealed.
Despite winning roles in JJ Abrams' Super 8 and Sofia Coppola's Somewhere, the 13-year-old actress still goes to normal school on the filmmaker's recommendation.
"Steven said it's really important to have movies and have your regular life. He really is an advocate for still staying in school - I go to regular school - and he thinks you should have that as well," she said.
Elle - who stars as Alice in Super 8 - said her favourite director to work with to date is Sofia.
"She was a woman and it was wonderful working with her. We still keep in touch with email," she continued.
"I've worked with Francis (Ford Coppola), as we just finished Twixt. It's incredible. And then there's JJ and Steven. All of those people really change your life - getting to meet them when you have worshipped them."
The actress, Dakota's younger sister, got the chance to speak to Steven on set.
"I had seen Steven before because I went on the set for War Of The Worlds with my sister but I was really young so I don't remember him that much. I saw him on set on Super 8 and it's incredible," she recalled.
"He's there with JJ and they are really collaborating. JJ really cares about Steven's input so it was neat to see."
:: Super 8 opens in cinemas on August 5.
