Stand By Me director wins praise

Rob Reiner hopes audiences enjoy his new film Flipped

Stand By Me director Rob Reiner has been winning praise in Hollywood for his latest coming-of-age movie Flipped.

The film's young cast hit the red carpet in LA to premiere the 60s-set movie to a packed audience.

"Just like Stand By Me, I connected very deeply with the first feeling of falling in love," Rob explained.

He added: "That's why we set it in the same period."

Based on a novel by Wendelin Van Draanen, the film follows the relationship of Bryce and Juli from grade school to junior high, through family drama and first love.

Rob admitted he was looking forward to see how audiences experience the film.

"I think when they see it, either they're going through it as a kid, or if they're an adult they're going to remember back to what it really felt like when you had those first very powerful confusing feelings of falling in love," he said.
