Stars join Madonna on red carpet
Madonna is to walk the red carpet at the premiere of her royal romance W.E.
The film, which tells the story of the love affair between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII, stars Andrea Riseborough and James D'Arcy in the lead roles.
The two actors will join Madonna on the red carpet tonight in Kensington, west London.
The film adopts a two-tier approach, contrasting the royal romance which ultimately led to Edward's abdication with the tangled love-life of a modern woman, played by Abbie Cornish, who is obsessed with Mrs Simpson.
The film was greeted with a volley of critical abuse after an early screening at last year's Venice Film Festival.
One writer likened it to an advert for "high-end cosmetics", while another said it was "the turkey that dreamed it was a peacock".
Leslie Felperin, from Variety magazine, showered it with faint praise saying that it was "in focus, which is more than can be said for the script".
Madonna told journalists at Venice the film portrayed "a world of luxury and beauty and decadence", but has reported to have agreed to take it back to the cutting room after those early reviews.
The singer - who co-wrote and directed the film - has already spoken of the pressure of bringing the film to the UK.
Speaking before an earlier screening at the BFI London Film Festival, she said: "It's slightly nerve-wracking because it's about a British king, it's predominantly filmed in Britain, it's a British production, most of my actors are English and I know the British can be tough critics. But I hope they like it."
