Stars join Sam Cameron for ball

Prime Minister's wife Samantha Cameron joined Helena Bonham Carter and other stars for a Dickensian ball

Prime Minister's wife Samantha Cameron and actress Helena Bonham Carter were among guests at a Christmas ball to raise funds for a children's charity.

Department store Harrods created a Dickensian fantasy world for the evening, which included a bustling winter market scene complete with white snow flurries, and a three-course dinner held in a grand hall.

R&B singer Beverley Knight gave a live performance at the London ball which was in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, which Mrs Cameron is the patron of.

Mrs Cameron wore a charcoal Pringle coat with three-quarter length sleeves over an apricot dress from Top Shop, and Next shoes.

Organisers hope to raise £500,000 from the event.

Read the fine print on a contract. If you're not happy with the proposed terms of a deal, renegotiate. Don't be afraid to drive a hard bargain. You may not realise it, but you have a great deal of power. People are willing to pay good money for someone with your intelligence and experience. If you undersell yourself, you will set a dangerous precedent. Someone will ask you to do something that goes against your conscience. Obey your principles, even if it means making an enemy.More
