Jason Statham could be fighting the Decepticons in Transformers 4.
The British action man is said to be in the running to star in the fourth instalment of the shape-shifting robots franchise, after Shia LaBeouf hinted that he has no plans to reprise his role as Sam Witwicky, reported Variety.
No offer has apparently been made to the actor, although his name has been brought up by sources close to the production.
Studio bosses are in "active discussions" with Michael Bay and producer Steven Spielberg about shooting the fourth and fifth Transformers films back-to-back, which would be written by Ehren Kruger.
Michael, who has directed all three films, is expected to take charge of the upcoming movies, which could start production in late 2012 or early 2013, and will also serve as an executive producer alongside Spielberg.
Shia has expressed doubts about returning to his Transformers role.
"I love working with Michael. I would do any movie Michael wants to do. I just don't think there's anywhere to take it with Sam," he told MTV News.
