Steinfeld heads towards Homesman

Hailee Steinfeld could play an impoverished teenager in the film

Hailee Steinfeld is in talks to star in drama The Homesman.

The Oscar-nominated starlet could be seen on the big screen with Tommy Lee Jones, who is directing, co-writing, producing and starring in the period piece, reported Deadline.

The 16-year-old actress would join acclaimed performers such as Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, James Spader, John Lithgow and Tim Blake Nelson in the movie.

Tommy is set to play a man who teams up with a pioneer woman (Hilary) to escort three insane women across the prairie back to civilisation, with Hailee tipped to play a impoverished teenager.

She will next be seen in musical drama Can A Song Save Your Life? with Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, and Carlo Carlei's Romeo And Juliet remake, where she has been cast as Juliet.

Hailee - who received an Oscar nod for her performance in True Grit - will also be in sci-fi film Ender's Game, and French action thriller Three Days To Kill.
