Steinfeld to play Sleeping Beauty?
Hailee Steinfeld is set to portray Sleeping Beauty on the big screen, it has been reported.
The Oscar-nominated True Grit starlet is being eyed up for the role of the fairytale princess in the revised adaptation, penned by screenwriter Lindsay Devlin.
This new story will be told from the princess' point of view as she has to find her way out from the dream world, said Deadline.com.
This joins the forthcoming Disney version of Sleeping Beauty called Maleficent, to be directed by Tim Burton and rumoured to star Angelina Jolie as the witch.
Other fairytales undergoing the Hollywood treatment include Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried, Snow White And The Huntsman with Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron, and The Brothers Grimm: Snow White featuring Julia Roberts.
There's also a contemporary version of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton in the title roles, an updated take on Peter Pan with Channing Tatum and Disney's Oz: The Great And Powerful with James Franco.
