Steve Carell has said he jumped at the chance of starring in an end of the world film, because he was haunted by the script.
The actor, 49, stars with Keira Knightley in bitter-sweet movie Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World.
"I read the script and could not stop thinking about it. It haunted me. It was funny, sweet, emotionally intense at times, and a story that I hadn't seen," the Anchorman star said.
Keira, 27, who recently got engaged to Klaxons keyboard player James Righton, was instantly intrigued by the script.
"There are a lot of films made about the end of the world but I'd never seen one like this," she said.
Keira has said during a real-life apocalypse she would "drink an awful lot", adding: "I wouldn't want to be sober at the end of time" if the end of the world came.
Steve added: "I would eat a lot of junk food... I would purchase cupcakes and brownies."
Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World is in cinemas this weekend.
