Stiller: Zoolander 2 in pipeline

Ben Stiller has assured fans that he is still hoping to make a Zoolander sequel.

The comic actor starred as dim-witted model Derek Zoolander in the 2001 movie and although a follow up has been talked about for years, so far the film hasn't gone ahead.

However, Variety reported that Ben told fans and movie students at the Taormina Film Festival that Zoolander 2 is still in the pipeline.

The star's production company is "actively" working on a rewrite of the script.

Ben said: "I can't say that it's actually a reality yet, but I hope some day it is.

"It's been about 10 years now. It's going to be old Derek Zoolander."

The star, who was honoured at the Sicilian festival, also talked about how the comedy has become more popular over the years.

"When we told the studio, they didn't quite understand it. It was a very strange experience, because even when the movie came out, I don't think people quite got it. It's sort of grown over the years," he said.
