Susan Boyle is red-hot favourite to win Britain’s Got Talent
Monday, 20 April 2009
Thousands of pounds worth of bets have been placed on Britain’s Got Talent singing sensation Susan Boyle to win the show.
The Scottish woman is the favourite to walk away with the programme’s £100,000 prize and sing for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.
Since Ms Boyle’s rendition of I Dreamed a Dream, from the musical Les Miserables, was aired last week, bookmaker William Hill said it had taken more than 3,000 bets on her to win.
Several of these were for “a few thousands pounds”, with the total amount of money placed on the unemployed church volunteer reaching a five-figure sum.
Ms Boyle (47) has received international acclaim and recognition since being catapulted into the limelight after appearing on the talent show.
“Ninety-three per cent of the bets we have received for Britain’s Got Talent have been for Susan Boyle and the turnover is in to five figures,” said Graham Sharpe of William Hill.
“We have had some bets of several thousand pounds which is unusual for reality television.”

OMG........Susan Boyle is just an amazing woman, she has THE VOICE. I hope she wins, she definitely deserve it. Truly, it's a wake up call for the human race never to judge the book by it's cover and it's never too late to Dream. I've seen how Simon rolls his eyes and some of the audiences making faces, but her voice just shut them up! You Go Susan. May God Be With You Always!
Wishing you the best of Luck!

Paul, you are just far too sophisticated for 'morthern ireland', too cool, stay in Italy and give over.

There is a recording of her on the web singing Cry Me A River. While she wasn't pitch perfect on BGT (and who would be) the version of Cry Me A River is as good as any I've heard.
She may not win BGT but she's already won (a recording contract and worldwide attention) a good news story that seems pretty genuine to me.

Since I saw Susan on YouTube, I haven't been able to get that song out of my head. I hope she goes all the way. Some people think that it was a set-up but even if it was she has a wonderful voice and I wish her all the luck in the world. Go Susan!!!!!!

I sincerely hope she DOES make it to the winning post, BUT that she does NOT let the aestheticians turn her into something she is not - i.e. a front page glamour puss. Let's keep her as she is and show the world that beauty IS only skin deep and that we ALL have some sort of talent if only we were allowed to show it.

that wee welsh dude seemed like a complete set up! Was a bit too conincendental that he had another song to sing just like that especially when he wasnt that bad at the first. Didnt ring true. Although he was brilliant.

don't be so sure of her victory - did anyone see that wee Welsh dude the other day? Mr Cowell stage-managed his performance perfectly - reckon he's in with a shout.

People would not be as interested in her if she looked pretty. her pure physical appearance and dowdy backstory is doing her great favours.
She has a nice voice, but i can't help thinking all this attention is like a nice patronising pat on the head for the girl, i.e 'who'd have thought something so plain could sing aahh bless'.

Oh come on she's not that good - she's very sure of herself and as for never been kissed that's only to get the sympathy vote.

Wow, a true 'band wagon' in the making with pretty much everyone jumping aboard for the ride!
It's amazing to think that the UK, with an adult population of over 50 Million, that we've managed to find someone who can sing. What are the odds??
Makes you feel all warm inside, doesn't it? (or is that just my stomach turning over...)

she wasnt that spectacular, she just appeared even better because lets face it, when she walked out everyone was expecting a train wreck and instead got an impressive voice. but lets not pretent she is world class just yet.

I am very PROUD for Susan. Just goes to show that you cant judge whats inside by how it looks outside. I am sure most people thought OMG what is she going to sound like... And not they are thinking OMG what a set of vocal cords!

I think there are more people out there like Susan who would amaze people if they were only given a chance. I would love to see this show in the USA,,,,,not America's Got Talent either

I absolutely adore Susan Boyle!! Her singing brings tears to my eyes and I have listened to her sing I Dreamed a Dream and Cry Me a River over and over and never get tired of listening to her angel voice. I predict this lady will be one of the best singers in history. She is incredible and I hope she never changes. I love Susan and can't wait for her first CD. Please tell me there will be one coming out soon!!! I would stand in line all night long to buy her CD and pay whatever it costs. Susan Boyle is a STAR!!!!!
