Kiefer Sutherland is in talks to star in disaster movie Pompeii.
The star of 24 and Touch is said to be in "final negotiations" to play the villain opposite Game Of Thrones actor Kit Harington in Paul WS Anderson's historical picture, reported Heat Vision blog.
Kit, best known for playing Jon Snow in the medieval fantasy series, is already on board as a slave of a shipping tycoon, who dreams of his day of freedom so he can marry his master's daughter.
When he finds out that she has been promised to a corrupt Roman senator (the character that Kiefer could play), he decides to head back to Pompeii to rescue her when volcano Mount Vesuvius erupts.
Emily Browning and Jared Harris also appear in the 3D film, which is set in 70 AD.
Production is currently under way in Toronto.
Kiefer, who was last seen in Lars von Trier's apocalyptic drama Melancholia, will next appear in Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist, which also stars Riz Ahmed and Kate Hudson.
