Tarantino to pen Django/Zorro comic
Quentin Tarantino is to write a comic book sequel, which would feature Django Unchained's Django Freeman and Zorro.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker will collaborate with comic book writer Matt Wagner on the storyline and script of Django/Zorro, which sees the former slave-turned-hero teaming up with the swash-buckling Zorro, said The Hollywood Reporter.
"I'm very very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt," he said.
"It was reading his Zorro stories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together. And the story idea we came up with is thrilling, and I think will be an exciting new chapter for both characters."
The Django/Zorro miniseries will be published by Dynamite Entertainment and DC Entertainment later this year.
Dynamite publisher and CEO Nick Barrucci called Django/Zorro a "dream project," adding: "I can't express how happy I am to co-publish this series with DC Entertainment, and release what is sure to be the cross-over event of the year."
It marks the first time Quentin has "explored the continuing adventures of one of the characters from his films", said editor Reginald Hudlin.
The original Django Unchained was adapted into a seven-issue miniseries by DC Entertainment in 2013.
Jamie Foxx played Django in the 2012 film, which won Oscars for best original screenplay and best supporting actor or Christoph Waltz.
