Terry Christian nominates Ulrika for Big Brother boot
Monday, 5 January 2009
Music journalist Terry Christian tonight secretly put Ulrika Jonsson up for eviction from Celebrity Big Brother.
The former presenter of The Word decided that the Shooting Stars panellist was the housemate with the biggest ego after watching the group perform a task.
Christian landed the the power to nominate whoever he thought had the most inflated opinion of themselves, after he was made head of the house.
Though the housemates knew of his privileged status, they did not realise he would monitor their behaviour as he filmed them to create closing credits for this evening's show.
Initially reticent about his decision, Christian told Big Brother: "No one I filmed today showed any part of an ego. Only me as I go on about being head of house.
"We all have big egos and low self-esteem. That's why we're in the business".
Pushed for an answer, he plumped for Ulrika, explaining: "It just seems to be that vibe about it to me. Too good for this. She's a nice enough girl.
"Everything seems to get on her nerves about me and the situation. I may be wrong and I'll suffer the consequences."
An unwitting Jonsson confided to Big Brother that she was having "complete flashes of panic" in the house, but she said she liked Christian for his "nuggets of information".
Jonsson was reportedly paid £175,000 for appearing in the show.
Their other housemates are 2ft 8in tall movie star Verne Troyer, ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena, firebrand socialist Tommy Sheridan, glamour girl Lucy Pinder, 90s pop singer Ben Adams, Shameless actress Tina Malone, Gangsta's Paradise rapper Coolio, former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton and La Toya Jackson, the sister of pop star Michael.
Saturday was the group's first full day as housemates after they entered the compound on Friday evening.
The morning got off to a leisurely start, with Adams telling Christian about a dream Coolio had about shooting someone.
Christian responded: "More like having a nightmare about the sales of his last album."
"Ooh, Terry's being bitchy," said Malone.
The mood was friendlier as she shared a bonding moment with Jackson over abusive relationships they had experienced.
The American told her: "I'm going to hug you. What you have been telling me is what I've been through."
Malone admitted she was surprised Jackson had gone into the house, asking if any of her famous family would be watching.
"My business partner will call the family ... Jan (Janet Jackson) will definitely watch," said Jackson.
Malone told her that her brother Michael was a genius.
Coolio cooked up the housemates' first lunch, which took him more than an hour and a half to prepare.
Christian, not one to mince his words, told the group: "It's a lot better than I thought it would be. It looked like a student concoction."
Tomorrow night's show will show the celebrities showcasing the talent that shot them to fame, as part of a task to win two tokens for household treats.
Again, what they do not know is that the housemate Terry Christian judges to have the least talent will be secretly nominated for eviction.
The housemates will be allowed a rehearsal period before performing the task.
