The Jungle Book trounces The Huntsman at US box office
The Jungle Book remains king of the box office in its second weekend in US cinemas, beating new opener The Huntsman: Winter's War by nearly 40 million US dollars (£27.7m), according to studio estimates on Sunday.
While The Jungle Book celebrates a 60.8 million US dollar (£42.2m) weekend and a 191.5 million US dollar (£133m) domestic total, The Huntsman sequel is flailing in second place.
The movie starring Chris Hemsworth took in only 20.1 million US dollars (£14m) against a production budget of 115 million US dollars (£80m) in its first days in cinemas. The first film earned 56.2 million US dollars (£39m) in its debut in 2012 and went on to gross 396.6 million US dollars (£275m) worldwide.
Barbershop: The Next Cut landed in third place with 10.8 million US dollars (£7.5m) in its second weekend in cinemas. Zootopia and The Boss rounded out the top five with 6.6 million US dollars (£4.6m) and 6.1 million US dollars (£4,2m), respectively.
