The Rock admits acting was a risk

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson said he was fortunate that his risk paid off

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has admitted he took a risk when he decided to try acting, but said it paid off.

The 40-year-old star is currently the reigning WWE champion and king of the box office after his latest movie GI Joe: Retaliation stormed to number one in the US, taking 40.5 million dollars in its opening weekend.

Dwayne said of his varied career: "I never feel that it's too much because I'm aware of the plan. I put the plan together. But in that, comes really incredible challenges that require a lot of people to embrace the vision of it, to support it.

"It was one of those things where you take a risk and, fortunately, it's paid off."

He said he still hasn't decided if he'll participate in WrestleMania 30 next year, but he is about to defend his title against John Cena at WrestleMania 29.

Dwayne admitted: "It's the biggest show of my career."

The star was in a position to call his shots and he picked John over any other superstar wrestler on the roster. For all the trash talking in the ring, the pair have a deep respect for each other.

"He's been the number one guy in the company for many years now, and has managed to maintain a genuine, optimistic love for the business," Dwayne said.

"Often times, inherently, what the business creates is pessimism over time, and unhappiness. John has been able to stay above that, not get lost in the garbage, and not get lost in the noise. He's very focused, very committed. There's an X factor about John that moves an audience."
