Theron thrilled with Globes nod

Charlize Theron was thrilled by her Golden Globes nod

Charlize Theron has described the news of her Golden Globe nomination as a "nice way to wake up."

The South African actress has been nominated in the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical category for her role as teen novelist and wannabe husband-snatcher in Young Adult.

Speaking at the films' Los Angeles premiere, she described the awards nod as "amazing."

Charlize stars alongside Patrick Wilson, Elizabeth Reaser and Patton Oswalt in the comedy, which is written by Juno's Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman.

And she says it was the lure of working with Up In The Air director Reitman that first drew her to the project.

"The first thing that really grabbed me was Jason Reitman, I have to say, and the combination of this material with him," she said.

"I really wanted to work with him and I saw a lot of potential in the character that Diablo wrote. It was not a hard decision."
